Our guest speak\u00aders for today\u2019s meet\u00ading were Jean and Doug Chad\u00adwick from the Kiwa\u00adnis Lit\u00ader\u00ada\u00adcy Club of South\u00adern Cal\u00adi\u00adfor\u00adnia, along with Gov\u00ader\u00adnor Steven West\u00adphal of the Utah-Ida\u00adho District.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jean shared with us the impor\u00adtance of read\u00ading to her, as she over\u00adcame great obsta\u00adcles in her ear\u00adly years. After being aban\u00addoned by her par\u00adents, even\u00adtu\u00adal\u00adly anoth\u00ader fam\u00adi\u00adly wel\u00adcomed her into their home. She dis\u00adcov\u00adered the won\u00adder of books and the inspi\u00adra\u00adtion they provide. <\/span><\/p>\n

Jean took us on a vir\u00adtu\u00adal tour of their book inven\u00adto\u00adry store\u00adhouse (their garage) to explain the need for hav\u00ading a large num\u00adber of books on hand to fill the orders as they come in.<\/span><\/p>\n

Doug spoke about the lend\u00ading library book box pro\u00adgram that first began in a police sta\u00adtion. Since then, 150 libraries have been cre\u00adat\u00aded. Each unique book box is $1250 and it comes with 200 books as well. Enjoy! Share! Repeat!<\/span><\/p>\n

Doug went on to say that they pre\u00adsent\u00aded infor\u00adma\u00adtion about their book pro\u00adgram at the 2017 Cal\u00adNe\u00adva DCON<\/span>. While at the Kiwa\u00adnis Club of Bur\u00adbank Cal\u00adi\u00adfor\u00adnia, they were invit\u00aded to join the Kiwa\u00adnis fam\u00adi\u00adly. They formed the sin\u00adgle focus Kiwa\u00adnis Club. Since then, five more lit\u00ader\u00ada\u00adcy clubs have been start\u00aded. Despite the pan\u00addem\u00adic, since<\/span> March of this year, 52 000 books have been distributed. <\/span><\/p>\n

Gov\u00ader\u00adnor Steve spoke about the 10 000 books that his Dis\u00adtrict has pledged to give to their 50 clubs. He has asked clubs to be sure to include a min\u00adi\u00admum of $400 in their annu\u00adal bud\u00adget to con\u00adtin\u00adue the book pro\u00adgram. His Dis\u00adtrict is excit\u00aded to part\u00adner with the Lit\u00ader\u00ada\u00adcy Club to help chil\u00addren, where for $2, a child will receive a book to keep with the spon\u00adsor\u2019s label inside.<\/span><\/p>\n
